About This Spot

Stepping into Court Pastry Shop is like slipping into a quiet corner of old Brooklyn where time slows down just enough to savor the simple pleasures of a neighborhood bakery. Nestled on Court Street, this unassuming spot carries the low-key warmth of a cherished local fixture—not the polished, bustling energy of a trendy café, but something steadier, filled with the soft hum of familiar footsteps and the promise of something sweet waiting just inside.

The atmosphere echoes a bygone era, with vintage touches that quietly whisper stories of generations gathered here over rich, creamy cannoli and flaky sfogliatelle. There’s an easy comfort in the place’s modest décor and well-loved counters, reflecting a slower pace that invites you to pause and appreciate each bite. It’s the kind of space where neighbors might share a nod over almond cookies or where weekend regulars eagerly await lobster tails, all while the scent of freshly baked treats gently lingers in the air.

Beyond being a stop for pastries, Court Pastry Shop feels like a subtle ritual—a spoonful of custard ice or a slice of old-school cheesecake carries with it more than just flavor; it’s a taste rooted in tradition, crafted with a quiet, enduring attentiveness. The pastries aren’t just desserts; they’re moments of comfort that celebrate the neighborhood’s rich Italian heritage with every flaky crust and creamy filling.

Whether you’re drawn here for a nostalgic connection or a new discovery, the experience unfolds in a way that feels intimate and genuine, less about spectacle and more about the small, human moments wrapped up in each carefully made confection. It’s a place to carry away something sweet and return often, as many loyal visitors have for decades.

Lobster tails on the weekends! Cannolis are prefilled but still very crisp. Grab a treat and then go next door to Union market for a drip coffee and a bench to devour the goodies. Been coming here for 15+ years.

While the service here is garbage, the Cannoli (4.5/5) is very good and probably one of the better if not the best cannolis in NYC. The small Sfogliatelle was nice also (3.5/5) but dry. Cannoli (4.5/5) - Almost the perfect cannoli except the shell tasted a little bit burnt. The filing was perfect - creamy, milky ricotta with small little chocolate chips which wasn't overly sweet. Lots of places will mix cream in but not this place - the filing was decadent. Sfogliatelle (3/5) - the outer shell was lovely nice and crispy and held its shape even when I cut into it, but while the filing is tasty and has great notes of orange, it's quite dry. Also the service is ridiculous - the lady at the counter wouldn't accept my money because it had a small tear in it. If the bank can accept it, why can't you?

We stopped by Court Pastry Shop and decided to try their cheesecake. It turned out to be really good — creamy, smooth, and not overly sweet. It has that old-school New York bakery style that’s getting harder to find these days, and you can really taste that it’s made fresh. The shop itself has a classic neighborhood feel, nothing fancy, but really charming in its own way. If you like traditional desserts and especially if you’re into cheesecake, this place is definitely worth checking out.

Court Pastry Shop is an Italian dessert establishment founded by the Zerilli family in 1948, located in the heart of Carroll Gardens. It has become a longstanding neighborhood fixture. The interior decor maintains its traditional charm, reflecting the timeless ambiance from my childhood, alongside consistently high quality desserts and cakes. Their offerings include renowned pastries, cookies, cakes, and classic summer favorites such as custard ice. Highlights include the cannoli birthday cake and their Italian Butter Cookies topped with jam and sprinkles. Please be advised that during holidays and summer weekends, the shop may experience extended lines; however, the quality of the treats makes the wait worthwhile.

If you want to have authentic Sicilian desserts Court Pastry is the place. Step inside and be transported back in time. Everything you try will be delicious, fresh and decadent. I recently found out the almond paste cookies are both gluten and dairy free (because that is how these cookies are supposed to be made) and are perfect for friends with allergies. My personal favorite is the Anisette toast which I have with a nice tea or coffee. Also the owner, G. Zerilli is one of the nicest people you will ever find!

Good pastries at decent prices. The Fig Cookies are delicious. It's probably better to go earlier rather than later. I went later and their was less to choose from

A neighborhood icon for the last 50+ years a reason! Their fancy cookies and classic Italian cookies are unreal. Always worth a stop. Don’t miss any of their apricot jammed filled cookies. Underrated.

Rainbow cookies or 7 layer and the Sfogliatelles are delicious! They have a lot of cookies and pastries options. The prices of everything are really good. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Can’t wait to go back to try new things!
